Fennel has an affinity with the digestive system (a key ingredient in children’s gripe water).  Since medieval times it has been used to convey courage and longevity.  The modern aromatherapist uses it as for its positive influence on self-esteem and confidence. Avoid in pregnancy.

Source: Foeniculum vulgare is grown in Italy and Hungary.

Extraction:  Fennel essential oil is steam distilled from the ripe fruit of Foeniculum vulgare.

Aroma:  Fennel essential oil has a sweet and earthy scent.

Uses:  Massage, baths and vaporisation.

Blends well with:  Bergamot, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Cypress, Dill, Fir, Geranium, Ginger, Grapefruit, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Mandarin, Marjoram, Niaouli, Orange, Pine, Ravensara, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Tangerine, Ylang Ylang.

Caution:  Always dilute Fennel essential oil to less than 5% before application to skin.  Do not use in instances of endometriosis, prostatic hyperplasia or eostrogen dependent cancers.  Avoid during pregnancy.
